5 Things: Medfield Library Gala, Zullo Gallery Reception and State Tourney Games

Here's a quick look at what's happening today, March 1 in Medfield.

Today's Forecast: Thursday's weather, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for rain and snow before 3 p.m., then rain likely between 3 and 5 p.m., then rain and snow likely after 5 p.m. Patchy fog. High near 40. East wind between 10 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. Thursday Night: Snow likely, mainly before 7 p.m. Patchy fog. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 24. North wind between 7 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Notable Events:

  • The Conservation Commission will hold a meeting at 7:30 p.m. at the .
  • The CSA (Community School Association) will meet at the school at 7 p.m. All parents are invited to join.
  • will host their Third Annual Gala at the Library from 7 to 9 p.m. This year's theme is "Celebrate Your Community" and is a wonderful opportunity to meet the community partners of the new . This event will feature activities and programs for the whole family to enjoy, includin, food, crafts, face painting and music. The Open Mic Night for teens will also be held. Refreshments will be served. Performances are limited to teens in grades 6-12 but all ages are invited to come watch. Sign up if you would like to perform.
  • will host their First Thursday reception this evening from 6 to 10 p.m. offering appetizers from Susan Goddard Catering, plus a unique selection of wines from Newton Lower Falls Wine Co. from their beer and wine bar. First Thursday offers a wonderful opportunity to mingle with friends and view Zullo's current exhibit "Selected Watercolor Artists From New England".

Warriors Thursday: The Medfield High School boys' hockey and girls' basketball teams open MIAA State Tournament play today. The boys' hockey team faces off against Westwood at the Gallo Arena in Bourne at 5:30 p.m. while the girls' basketball team hosts Hingham at 7 p.m., which was postponed Wednesday due to inclement weather.
