5 Things You Need to Know Today in Medfield, Jan. 18

Here's a look at the day ahead.

Today's Forecast: Wednesday's weather, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for sunny, with a temperature falling to around 28 by 5pm. Breezy, with a west wind between 16 and 23 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph. Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 12. Northwest wind between 6 and 14 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.

Notable Events:

  • The Board of Health will meet at the  today at 6:30 p.m.
  • will hold a Nature's Classroom Information Night in the auditorium at 6:30 p.m. This meeting is for parents of incoming seventh grade students learn more about the trip that will be taking place in the fall of 2012.  For questions, please contact Judy Silva (jsilva@medfield.mec.edu).

  • Children and teens in grades four and up are invited to stop by the Medfield Library every Wednesday from 3 to 6 p.m. to choose and play from a collection of Wii games. The gaming station will be set up in the lower level meeting room.
  • Pattycake Place Story Time will be held at 10:45 a.m. Children, ages 0-23 months old are invited to particpate in the interactive storytime with their caregivers. Also at the library Wednesday, will be the Book Bunch Storytime, beginning at 11:30 a.m. for preschoolers, ages 2 and up.

Warriors' Wednesday:

  • The girls' and boys' varsity winter track teams compete against Medway at the Hopkinton Field House at 3:30 p.m.
  • The girls' varsity ice hockey team faces off against Franklin at the Veterans Arena at 6 p.m.
