5 Things You Need to Know Today in Medfield, Feb. 23

Here's a look at the day ahead.

Today's Forecast: Thursday's weather, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for a chance of showers before 11 a.m., then a slight chance of showers after 4 p.m. Patchy fog before 8 a.m. Otherwise, cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 52. West wind between 11 and 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. Thursday Night: Rain likely, mainly after 4 a.m. Increasing clouds, with a low around 38. West wind at 6 mph becoming east. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Notable Events:

  • The Medfield Board of Appeals will hold a meeting at the from 2 to 4 p.m.
  • Tickets are now available for the Senior Fashion Show, which will be held on Saturday, March 17 at 7 p.m. in the Lowell Mason Auditorium of the high school. The Senior Fashion Show benefits the All Night Graduation Party. All tickets are $20 and can be obtained by sending an e-mail to MHSFASHIONSHOW2012@Yahoo.com.   • Senior Happenings at the Center: Woodcarving 9 a.m.; Ladies Bridge 9 a.m.; Zumba 10 a.m. ($4 per class); Muffin Yoga 12:30 p.m. ($3 per class); Poker Club 1 p.m.; Video Class Egypt 2 p.m.

  • The final Scrapbooking Workshop for children in grades 3 - 6 will be held today from 3 to 4 p.m. Children are asked to bring in photos their choice to preserve their memories with materials provided by the Library. 
  • Children in Grades 2 to 4 are invited to stop by the library from 2 to 4 p.m. to participate in the final Folk Tale Skits program with members of girl scouts troop #74900. The girl scouts will read aloud a different folk tale each day and then help  children to create and perform a new ending for each tale.
