Wheelock School's ROCKY WOODS FEAST - an annual treasure since 1978!

Third graders at the Wheelock School celebrated another festive year with the annual ROCKY WOODS FEAST!

Students and teachers, dressed in Pilgrim attire, set up camp at Rocky Woods Reservation this past week.  As has been a tradition since 1978, these Wheelock students learn about meal preparation (without a kitchen), archery and fishing (as a food source), and how life was for the early settlers in this country and in this New England area.

A hearty beef stew, roasted chicken (on a spit), applesauce, cornbread and "doughboys" were prepared by many and consumed by all at this year's Rocky Woods Feast!

The students also had to deal with the chilly temperatures, and found warmth near the fire pit, making this recreation feel very much like the real thing!
