"Community Warriors" have done many good works!

The "Community Warriors" are a group of 14 male students from the Dale Street School who have made it their mission to do good works in the Medfield community and beyond.

The "Community Warriors" are, Ray Hilvert, Luke McKenzie, Jake Sherman, Nick Merageas, John Schofield, Jack Mahoney, Jack McCordic, Jack Cahill, Cam
Giunta, Mike Tyer, Philip Milezko, Will Sievewright, Luke Slavik and Jimmy
Cosolito.

Prior to Superintendent Maguire's retirement, the "Community Warriors" fundraised and donated a bench to Dale Street School in Maguire's honor.  They also donated $300 to the Boston Marathon bombing victim, Martin Richard's family from the proceeds of their fundraising efforts.

Six of the 14 boys read the following remarks to Maguire at the dedication of the bench.

"We would like to introduce ourselves to you and thank you for all you have
done for us and the students who came before us."

Ray Hilvert - "We are a group of 14 boys that call ourselves Community Warriors.  We came together 3 years ago to put our energy and and focus on doing good for others and helping to make our community a better place."

Mikey Tyer - "Some of the projects we have done in the past 3 years are snow
shoveling for the elderly in town, mailed packaged supplies to soldiers
overseas, hiked Blue Hills to raise money for breast cancer, cleaned the
Medway Family Shelter's playground, brought treats and caroling to the
police station and the Thomas Upton House."

Jack Mahoney - "For our end of year project we came up with two ideas of
things we wanted to do. One was to support Martin Richard's family who
was affected by the Boston bombing on Marathon Day. Our second idea was
to leave a gift behind to Dale Street School at graduation in dedication
to a special administrator."

Phillip Milezko - "To accomplish this goal we needed to raise some money. We
decided to have a bake sale at the Wheelock fields on a Saturday morning.
We were there from 9 am to 1pm and raised $500. We gave the Richard
Family Fund in honor of Martin Richard $300. We then used the rest to buy
our school gift."

Luke  - "The way we came up with the idea of the bench was, we went to the school and asked what is something that the faculty really wished they had and could use. The teachers all came up with the need for a bench out at
the playground. We thought of building it from scratch, but then decided
it would be better to purchase one that is weather resistant so it will
last longer. "

Jake Sherman - "Last week we all came together and assembled the bench and with the help of Mrs. Hurley, who graciously painted the warrior symbol on the bench along with the dedication. We are able to present this bench to
Dale Street School in honor of Mr Maguire for his long years of hard work
and dedication to the students, faculty and education of the town of
Medfield."
