Community Celebrates Retiring Superintendent Bob Maguire

On Thursday, June 20th, over 150 people gathered to celebrate Bob Maguire's achievements as both Medfield High School Principal from 1991- 1999 and his tenure as Superintendent of Schools from 1999 - 2013.

Chief of Police, Bob Meaney, was the Master of Ceremonies, and took his job seriously with a hook in one hand (in case any speakers were a bit long winded) and a drumstick in the other (in case he needed to quiet the crowd and ring the bell)!

The High School Chamber Strings, under the direction of Sharon Woodworth provided music as guests arrived.

Maguire was "roasted" by some speakers and praised by others, but everyone seemed to enjoy the evening which was full of laughs, presentations and good memories.

Maguire was presented with declarations, proclamations, gifts and honors by State Representative Denise Garlick;  School Committee Chairman, Tim Bonfatti; Veterans Agent, Ron Griffin; Medfield Music Director, Doug Olsen; Medfield High School Principal, Robert Parga; Medfield High School teacher, Richard Shapiro; Selectman, Mark Fisher; Former Chairman of the School Committee, Steve Kramer; Selectman, Richard DeSorgher; Former Chairman of the School Committee, Carolyn Casey; Director of Curriculum, Kim Cave; Medfield Athletic Coach, Erik Ormberg; Town Administrator, Mike Sullivan and MCPE Representatives, Anna Mae O'Shea Brooke and Julie Layden.

Maguire fondly reflected on his many years in Medfield. He thanked his wife, daughters and extended family, and all those who attended this evening of celebration as his career in Medfield came to a close.
