Celebrating Memorial - Dale Street School Assembly

5th Graders Celebrating Memorial Day at Dale Street School

In celebration of the upcoming Memorial Day, a student-produced assembly will take place at the Dale Street School on Friday morning, May 24, at 8:45 a.m.

Five classes of 5th grade students will take part in this assembly consisting of songs, a poetry video and historical facts.

Students in Mr. White, Ms. Burnham, Mrs. Curran, Mr. Mason and Mrs. Cowell’s classes will take part in this 45 minute program and Mrs. Barbara Oxholm will be in charge of all music accompaniments.  The program will be as follows:

  • Mr. White’s Class – Color Guard
  • Ms. Burnham & Mrs. Curran’s Classes – march on stage
  • Principal Louise Snyder will invite the audience to join in singing our National Anthem
  • Principal Snyder will give opening remarks and emcee the program
  • Ms. Burnham & Mrs. Curran’s Classes will sing military anthems and finish with cadence
  • The Recorder Club will play (interlude)
  • Mr. White’s Class will give some historical facts and information about past wars
  • The Recorder Club will play (interlude)
  • Mr. Mason’s Class will sing “America the Beautiful”
  • Mrs. Cowell’s Class will present a poetry video
  • Principal Snyder will speak about why we celebrate Memorial Day
  • Mr. Olson & Mr. Dexter will play taps to conclude

Unfortunately, due to space limitations in the Dale Street School gymnasium, this assembly cannot be open to the public; however, any relatives of the presenting students, who have military experience, are most welcome to attend!
