Resident Starts Facebook Page to Remember Lord's

Nancy Norris wanted a way for people to deal with the loss of Lord's Department Store.

Nancy Norris created a Facebook page to help preserve the memory of Medfield's beloved Lord's Department Store which will close on Feb. 28 after 73 years in business.

Norris' initial post on "Medfield Remembers Lords" explains her mission...

On February 28, 2013 Lords Department Store will close its doors for the last time after 73 years of service to the town of Medfield, MA. Lords and the people who owned and operated it have been to this town much like what George Bailey was to Bedford Falls, New York in the film "It's a Wonderful Life". Can anyone imagine what Medfield would be today if Lords had never been. This Page is a place for people to share memories, sentiments, photographs, messages and any other expressions to preserve the memory of Lords, and in so doing help to preserve the essence of Medfield as we adjust to living here without Lords.

Norris said she came up with the idea after doing something similar to celebrate her husband's 50th birthday.

"People mailed things to me, emailed things, including poems and photos and drawings, and people used FaceBook - some people made videos," she explained. "Then I gathered and printed everything I had collected and put it into a scrapbook which I wrapped and gave to him on his birthday."

She hopes to do something similar for the Kelly family, and is hoping to find a way to make audio recordings that can be kept by the Historical Society.

Memories can be shared on the Facebook page, by email to MedfieldRemembersLords@yahoo.com, or by mail (cards, letters, or stories) to Medfield Remembers Lords c/o Nancy Norris, 11 Causeway Street, Medfield MA 020252.
