Registration Open for 2012 Discover Medfield Day

Registration for last year's MEMO Discover Medfield Day participants is now open. Registration for all other participants will begin on July 15.

School is ending soon and another summer is about to begin in Medfield ... meaning most of the town will disappear for the next few months.

Discover Medfield Day, sponsored annually by MEMO, the Medfield Employers and Merchants Organization, is scheduled for Sept. 15 this year and registration is now open to last year’s participants.

MEMO members that did not participate in 2011 may register after June 15.  Open registration for all other businesses will begin July 15 and so it is time to think ahead before the summer hiatus hits Medfield.

on North Street will continue as the registration headquarters.  Registrations may be made online at medfieldmemo.org but all sites must be secured by sending payments for online registrations within 30 days to MEMO at P.O. Box 6, Medfield MA 02052 or at Rockland Trust on North Street, registrations headquarters.

Walk-in registrations will also be taken at the bank.

As in the past, exhibitors will be encouraged to decorate their booths within the theme of the day, which will be “Medfield Reads for 2012” – joining with the year-long, town-wide reading program. Advanced planning may payoff with a free exhibit site in 2013 for the best decorated booth overall.

Again, there will be approximately 150 exhibition sites surrounding Meeting House Pond in Medfield Center. North Street from Main to the will be closed to through traffic from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The atmosphere will be colorful and joyful with the sounds of musical entertainment and exuberance of the children enjoying activities in Kids’ Alley. Exhibit booths and the food court will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Kids Alley activities will remain open until 4 p.m. in the parking lot of on North Street.

Booths selling food must have a permit from the Medfield Board of Health.  Other rules and regulations covering electrical hook ups, helium tanks and more can be found under Medfield Day guidelines on the website www.medfieldmemo.org

Medfield Day is just one of the seasonal events sponsored by MEMO. It also offers concerts in the Gazebo Park on summer Thursday nights (), the annual Discover Medfield Day in September, a Christmas tree lighting/carol singing and Santa parade in December.

The business organization also honors local residents serving in the military by flying flags along the central business district on each major holiday and provides annual scholarships to graduating seniors at and Tri-County Regional Vocational High Schools.

All events are provided with the help of individual MEMO member sponsors. MEMO also makes financial or in kind donations to various local charities and organizations in support of their activities and events including but not limited to: Medfield Youth Baseball, Medfield Home Committee, Medfield Green Day, Eagle Scout candidates, the Peter Kenny Excellence in TV award, the Medfield Police and Medfield Fire Departments, The Center at Medfield.

Discover Medfield day originated in 1980 when a new business organization searched for ways to promote the organization founded in 1979 and to help promote local businesses and civic and service organizations. It includes free live entertainment, fundraising events, food vendors and area crafts as well as a kids alley. It is a not to be missed event on Sept. 15; either as a participant or a visitor. Register now for a booth site.

Information regarding MEMO membership may be obtained from Cathleen@beginningyears.com.
