iPhone 5 Tops 2 Million Pre-orders

In just 24 hours, the upcoming iPhone 5 has already topped the amount of pre-orders. This doubles the amount Apple had for the iPhone 4s.

Area stores, such as Dedham's Best Buy, are among those getting hit with people looking to get their hands on the latest from the minds at Apple as the iPhone 5 hit 2 million pre-orders.

“iPhone 5 pre-orders have shattered the previous record held by iPhone 4S and the customer response to iPhone 5 has been phenomenal,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing in a press release.

Demand for iPhone 5 will exceed the initial supply, according to Apple officials, and while the majority of pre-orders will be delivered to customers on September 21, many are scheduled to be delivered in October.
