General Information About MEMO's Medfield Day

MEMO's Discover Medfield Day is set to be held on Sept. 17, rain or shine, and offers a variety of business exhibits and entertainment.

In addition to the many sponsors for MEMO’s Discover Medfield Day set to be held on Sept. 17, there are a great number of volunteers who make the day a success, several contribute in services that elevate them into the sponsorship or patron roles such as (Dover Trucking, Bronze sponsor), who will be responsible for the day’s worth of trash and APC pest control people who donate their services to minimize the yellow jacket population around the food tables.

One more new bronze financial supporter is the Baseball Consultants.

Kids Alley would be a real chore for the limited number of MEMO members available without booths for their businesses. Fortunately, this area in the parking lot, off North Street, has been staffed for many years by members from the High School Student Council and their many friends, along with some hardy adults willing to spend the day among hundreds of kids climbing, sliding and bouncing on the inflatables that cover the area.

Cathleen Farrell, MEMO’s representative from , is the volunteer coordinator and will be visiting and, perhaps, Montrose School to solicit help. All Medfield Day volunteers will receive a tee shirt that tells the fair goers who to turn to for help.

The visible, gold tee consolidates at this year’s theme “Medfield Treasures.” It is even more theme oriented thanks to the creative efforts of Seymour Levy, graphic artist and MEMO member, who designed the treasure chest logo on the front of the shirt. Clay Family Dealerships’ gold sponsorship is prominently acknowledged on the back of the shirt.

Any young or mature person who has not had an invitation to help may volunteer without waiting by contacting cathleenfarrell@gmail.com. Someday those MEMO tee shirts may become a collector’s item so it is good to get as many as you can.

This year, the rides and activities to be monitored and financially supported include: a popular trackless train, two giant inflated slides, one smaller slide, a 50-foot inflated obstacle course and three enclosed bouncers.

MEMO wishes to thank the law firm of Doherty, Ciechanowski, Dugan & Cannon; ; ; Medfield Veterinary Clinic; Paulette's Dance Studio and the Hometown Weekly newspapers for their financial support to make this area fun for the younger set and to the 80 to 100 student and adult volunteers who monitor it.

Medfield Day is a rain or shine event and includes approximately 150 exhibit booths representing businesses, schools, churches, civic and service organizations and more and is sponsored by the Medfield Employers and Merchants Organization, MEMO. It is open to the public, admission free.

North Street, Frairy Street and Upham Road are closed to traffic during the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. as the fair sets up and breaks down.

The day also includes live entertainment, a food court, a silent auction for the benefit of the MEMO scholarship fund and prizes for the best decorated booths in a variety of categories including this year’s theme. The best overall booth wins a free site to Medfield Day 2012.  Congratulations to Garden Continuum the 2010 best booth and its free site for a spectacular decoration this year.
