Businesses Can Still Register for MEMO's Medfield Day

MEMO's 32nd annual Discover Medfield Day will be held on Sept. 17.

Last minute booth registration for the 32nd annual Discover Medfield Day on Sept. 17 will continue for the next few weeks or until remaining exhibit space is sold out. All sites in the food court have been reserved.

The entertainment schedule is in place, items are being donated for the silent auction and raffles, rides and activities are on order for kids alley, new shirts for volunteers have been designed and ordered, sponsors have promised their support and, last but not least, good weather is also on order – unfortunately it is unpredictable.

The Medfield high School student council and MEMO staff will be wearing tee shirts with a treasure chest design to emphasize the theme of the fair, organized by the Medfield Employers and Merchants to promote local business, professionals and industries as well as civic and service organizations, schools and churches located in or serving Medfield.

Seymour Levy, a Medfield resident and graphic artist located in Needham, has joined the planning committee after becoming a new MEMO earlier in the year.

His design, a treasure chest, won approval by the committee to correlate with the theme Discover Medfield Treasures. The committee encourages exhibitors to decorate their booths to illustrate this theme. As always, the best overall decoration for booth sites wins a free site for the next year’s fair.

Plaques will be awarded to the winners in three other categories: best representing the theme of the year, best representing the exhibiting business or organization and the most educational or informative.

Exhibitors may register on the MEMO website: www.medfield-memo.org. All information regarding rules, regulations and fees as well as a list of available sites is on the site. To secure a site, a check for the fee amount, made payable to MEMO and mailed to PO Box 6, Medfield, MA 02052 is required within 10 days. Rockland Trust Bank is the registration headquarters and walk-in registration and payments may be made at the bank.

Medfield Day is a rain or shine event. It is one of the many seasonal activities sponsored by The Medfield Employers and Merchants Organization throughout the year. In December, MEMO offers caroling and tree lighting and a Christmas Parade, in the spring there is the popular Discover Medfield History Trolley Tour and in the summer Concerts at the Gazebo that just concluded a 10-week series through the generosity of Needham Bank, a MEMO member and corporate sponsor.

It uses proceeds from the fair to provide these events in addition to hanging flags throughout the business district on major holidays to honor its residents in the service of their country. Scholarships are also awarded to Medfield and Tri County high school graduates.

Medfield Day depends on its sponsors as well as its planning committee and MEMO wishes to thank Clay Family Dealerships, the Gold sponsor this year, Drs Starr and Glick, orthodontists, for being both silver and bronze sponsors, as well as Personal Best Martial Arts studio and Roche Brothers supermarkets for their Bronze sponsorships and Middlesex Bank, a patron and band sponsor. MEMO businesses represented on the Steering Committee for Medfield Day 2011 include: The Law Office of Russell Hallisey, Rockland Trust Bank, Middlesex Savings Bank, Electric Time, Rehab Marketing, Palumbo Insurance, Beginning Years, The Math Connection, and Prospect Mortgage, also Medfield Software, graphic artist Seymour Levy and Hank Marcel.

Exhibitors often use their sites to do fund-raising as well as promotion but otherwise admission to the fair and live entertainment on the stage is free. Fast foods are available in the food court and elsewhere around the concourse for a nominal charge. Come on Sept. 17 and join in the festivities, meet your neighbors and get to know the local merchants and learn about civic organizations. Find Medfield’s treasures.
