5 Things You Need to Know Today in Medfield, Feb. 2

Here's a look at the day ahead.

Today's Forecast: Thursday's weather, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for partly sunny, with a high near 41. Calm wind becoming north between 5 and 8 mph. Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23. North wind around 6 mph.

Notable Events:

  • The Medfield Conservation Commission will meet at the at 7:30 p.m.
  • The will host a First Thursday Reception this evening from 6 to 10 p.m., offering refreshments from their beer and wine bar. Enjoy a sneak preview of the new exhibit "Selected Watercolor Artists of New England" which officially opens Saturday, Feb. 4th.
  • The will present a special film screening and discussion of "We Still Live Here" beginning at 7 p.m. This award winning film highlights the efforts to save the local endangered language and culture of the Wampanoag right here in Eastern Massachusetts.

will hold a Program of Studies Night for parents with students in grade 8-12. The night will begin with an Orientation for parents of 8th grade students at 6:45 p.m. in the auditorium. Parents will given a presentation by the administrators and guidance counselors to be followed by group tours to various departments to hear from content specialists.

  • Parents of students in grades 9 – 11 are invited to attend the High School's Academic Information Night beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Hear from the Dean of Academics and learn more about the courses available to your child for next year and the course selection process at the high school.
