DECEMBER BIRTH DAYS AT THE COUNCIL ON AGING (THE OTHERSIDE OF MEDFIELD)

DECEMBER BIRTH DAYS AT THE COUNCIL ON AGING                                    (THE OTHERSIDE OF MEDFIELD)

By some reckoning the best part of the year is the end parts, November and December with Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa celebrations, and many others. The Medfield Council on Aging is making sure that the Seniors are very much a part of it. And the town as a whole through its clubs, churches, and individuals remember that its senior citizens have as much fun (maybe more) than everybody else.

Today at the Center at Medfield, the seniors celebrated, with December births, their birthday. The lunch was turkey sandwich with salad and punch. The mostly red clad seniors were in the holiday mood. Immediately after their birthday cake, which they shared with about 70 of their best friends, the sing along commenced, led by Medfield resident Cande Hopewell. The selections included some popular Christmas songs, such as Deck the Halls, Jingle bells, and White Christmas, which this year could be just a dream. Yesterday the choir rehearsed some of the songs for today. It was glorious. I think the best part was when the seniors sang and demonstrated the12 days of Christmas with appropriate signs. The clapping after it was fully executed was deafening.

December and the year are almost gone but the seniors had been feted by the Tri-Club, for Christmas Party; there has been bocce tournament with prizes for the winners and now a huge birthday party by COA for December birthdays; and on December 23rd at Tilden Village will be a Christmas Carol of songs to which all are invited.

The Center will be closed on Monday and Tuesday
