The afterschool program recently elected new board members.

Editor's Note: the following is a release from the Medfield Afterschool Program.

Christine Robertson and Dawn Friscia have joined the all-parent board of directors for the Medfield Afterschool Program for the 2013-14 school year, and second-year director David Traub was elected president of the non-profit’s governing board at its September meeting.

“We are close to full enrollment at all grade levels at this point, although there are still some slots for families who want their kids to be part of the MAP experience,” Traub said after the meeting. “It is shaping up to be another strong year for MAP as an organization, and another year of learning and enrichment in a safe, fun environment.”

MAP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit serving almost 300 Medfield children with afterschool enrichment, learning and care this year. The program has locations right on the Memorial and Wheelock school campuses for students at the K-1 and 2-3 level. MAP @ the Pfaff Center, which is adjacent to the Dale Street School, serves students from grade 4 to 6.

Robertson, who is the communications director for St. Sebastian’s School in Needham, joins the governing board after having being part of MAP’s successful Capital Campaign Committee in 2011 and 2012. Friscia, a senior vice president at Bank of America, adds considerable management experience and acumen to the volunteer board. Traub is the longtime communications director at the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office.

“We are also very pleased to that after completing her term, last year’s president, Susan Crimmins, agreed to lend her experience and serve as vice president for the coming year. Board members Kristine Barton, Jen Cavan, Clare Horn, Heather McCarthy and Treasurer Nora McGowan have all signed on to serve again this year,” Traub said. “Interested parents should feel free to ask any of us about MAP, stop by our booth at Medfield Day, call Gaye Shannon at 508.359.0003 or visit www.medfieldafterschoolprogram.com for a glimpse of what we do.”
