Trio of Medfield High Musicians Play at Symphony Hall in Boston

On Saturday March 26, Medfield High School junior Gabrielle Jaques (Chorus),  senior Lucy Pericles (Concert Band) and freshman Ida Xu  (Orchestra), performed in the Massachusetts Music Educators’ Association All State Concert, held at Symphony Hall in Boston.

The All State Concert included performances with choir, orchestra, concert band, and jazz band, made up of some of the most talented high school musicians across the entire state.

High school students from every school in the commonwealth are invited to audition for one of five Senior District Music Festivals. The top 25 percent of musicians who make it into the District level are then invited to audition for “All State.” The Massachusetts Music Educators’ Association then chooses from among this talented group of musicians to participate in the All State Festival.

These students come together for two and a half days at the World Trade Center to rehearse the challenging repertoire only breaking for meals and sleep.The final day culminates in a dress rehearsal and concert in Symphony Hall.

The opportunity to perform with some of the best high school musicians in the state, in one of the best concert halls in the world, was an extraordinary experience.
