Summer Concert Series: Shane Wood Jazz Trio to Perform Thursday

MEMO's summer concert series takes place at the Medfield Gazebo Park in front of the Medfield Public Library on Thursdays at 6 p.m.

The weekly Thursday concerts, sponsored by the Medfield Employers and Merchants Organization, MEMO, continues into August with the Shane Wood Jazz Trio making its debut Aug. 4 at the Gazebo.

A composer, pianist and vocalist, Shane Wood is a Medfield resident who graduated from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Composition and over 20 years experience in the music industry.  Wood has traveled throughout the United States and Europe playing pop, jazz, funk, and blues in large outdoor concerts, small clubs or private functions.

The trio consists of Neil Kruszkowski on saxophone and vocals Bruce Owens, the featured drummer and Wood on piano and vocals.  The trio plays a unique blend of jazz arrangements including original compositions as well as songs from contemporary artists and classic composers. The hosts for the evening will include the Medfield Cultural Council and the Lowell Mason Foundation, also new to MEMO’s roster of concert supporters this year.

On Aug. 11, will host Songs for Ceilidh, as they return to the gazebo stage. This local Celtic band, pronounced Kay-Lee, blends Irish, Scottish and Canadian Maritime influences with American heartland roots. The band, Grass Gypsys, returns to Medfield on Aug. 18 for the final concert hosted by The Math Connection. Needham Bank, a MEMO member, is the Corporate sponsor for the 10-week series again this year. Most of the weekly hosts are MEMO members as well.

The concerts, free and open to the public, begin at 6 p.m. in the park adjacent to the library. The venue is ideal for family picnics or just to sit and enjoy the music and a pleasant evening. In event of rain the Library will offer a family friendly film in its meeting room on the lower level at 6:30 p.m.
