'Songs for Ceilidh' to Return to Medfield Gazebo Thursday for Summer Concert

It will likely be another great night for a summer concert Thursday, as the weather is expected to be mostly sunny with a temperature in the low 80s. Stop by the Gazebo in front of the library to see "Songs for Ceilidh" perform.

On Thursday Aug. 11, will be the MEMO-member host for the annual return performance of “Songs for Ceilidh.”  

Summer concerts at the Gazebo, adjacent to the are sponsored by the Medfield Employers and Merchants Organization on Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m. Each week, one MEMO member hosts a concert from the 10-week series for which is the corporate underwriter. The venue offers a relaxed setting where families are welcome to bring or buy picnic suppers and let the kids enjoy the freedom to dance and play with their friends.

This local Celtic band, pronounced Kay-Lee, was formed five years ago. It blends Irish, Scottish and Canadian Maritime influences with American heartland roots. The band’s inspired originals provide a high energy, creative result.

The four members bring their personal specialties. Scott, the only Canadian, sings and plays acoustic guitar, bodhran and tin whistle.  The band was his idea in 2005 after moving to Massachusetts and finding no Celtic band of its type. Bryan, a native Nebraskan, brings the blue-grass influence with his fiddle and plays guitar. Chuck, a native of Sherborn and a guitar player keeps the music moving on his 12 string and banjo. Jon, a Medway neighbor, is the percussionist on Bongos and more. Their wide range of experience, musical training and love of music guarantees this as a very entertaining performance.

On Aug. 18 the "Grass Gypsys" will conclude the 10-week series with its return to the Gazebo stage hosted by .

The Medfield Employers and Merchants Organization, MEMO, is the local business organization similar to a Chamber of Commerce.  Member dues, profits from the annual fall fair, Discover Medfield Day, and corporate sponsors and member support make it possible to host many events throughout the year in addition to the concerts, including: the holiday tree lighting and parade, Discover Medfield History Day, flags flown through the business districts on national holidays and scholarships to graduating seniors at Medfield and Tri-County Regional Vocational High Schools.

MEMO’s mission is to promote local area business, industry and professionals as a resource for the residents. Membership is open to all doing business in or serving Medfield. Additional information may be found on the MEMO website www.medfield-memo.org.
