Medfield Native Kristin Hutchins Performs in Conn. College's Production of 'Three Sisters'

Medfield's Kristin Hutchins, a recent Connecticut College graduate, recently performed in the college's production of the play "Three Sisters."

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Kristin Hutchins, a 2008 and 2011 Connecticut College graduate, recently played the part of Masha (Prozorov) Kulygin in the college’s production of “Three Sisters."

"I'm a senior theater major and math minor and actually, I just finished my degree," Hutchins said. "I was able to complete it a semester early and I'm moving to New York City mid-January with an internship in the General Management department of The Public Theater."

Hutchins told Medfield Patch The Public Theater is the theater responsible for Shakespeare in Central Park each summer. They also have an extensive downtown season each year.

Hutchins is the daughter of Jeff and Karen Hutchins of Medfield.

"Three Sisters," written by Anton Chekhov and adapted by Lanford Wilson, examines the lives of three sisters, one brother and their spouses, lovers, suitors and friends. Set in a rural military outpost during peacetime, the play is about everyday life – and all of the laughter and pain that come with it.

"The play was written by Anton Chekhov in 1900," Hutchins said. "It deals with the lives of three sisters living in a small town in Russia, longing to return to their former home in Moscow. Our production was directed by Professor Nancy Hoffman and premiered Nov. 17."
