Medfield Author's Vampire TV Show 4 to 6 Weeks Away from Production

Medfield's Jon F. Merz says he's still looking for investors for his TV series based on his Lawson novels.

Medfield author, producer, and Ninja Jon F. Merz is looking for investors in his new television series, “The Fixer.” The show is based on his Lawson vampire novels.

“We started talking to billionaires, then we started talking to millionaires, then we started talking to ‘thousandaires’ where there was a lot of interest,” said Merz, who runs a production company, New Ronin Entertainment, with his longtime friend Jaime Hassett.

“It’s a 50 percent return on the investment within 24 months.  It’s a $2,500 minimum buy-in and it’s fairly easy,” he said.  “We would like another investor, somebody to come in and round things out…We have a few more expenses coming up.”

The pilot for the television show is four to six weeks away from production and is being shopped around to television channels, said Merz, noting that at least two channels have expressed interest in the series.

“Right now, we’re in the process of clearing up the legalities and applying for permits,” said Merz.

The show will be cast and shot in New England.  Some scenes have already been shot in Medfield and Merz said he hopes to use the former Medfield State Hospital in his show.

“The entire cast and crew is from New England so we’re not importing anything from Los Angeles,” said Merz.  “It’s good to be able to base it all here and the talent that we have is local too so it’s great to be able to give them work and a chance to shine.”

According to www.thefixter.tv, “The Fixer” tells the story of Lawson, a cynical, jaded part cop/spy/commando who was divinely chosen at birth to help protect the ‘Balance’ – the line separating humanity and the race of living vampires that has evolved in secret alongside humans over thousands of years.  Lawson has been called upon to protect his race by rooting out rogues, criminals, terrorists, and ne-er-do-wells.  He dispenses justice with extreme prejudice, sarcasm by the bowlful, and bullets by the pound.

Merz has a lot in common with his main character.  He has a military background, worked for the government for many years providing personal protection, and is a trained martial artist/Ninja.

Merz is the author of many short stories and graphic novels including The Kensei, which was released earlier this year.
