The Community Singers Begin Fall Rehearsals

The Community Singers, a chorus of about 50 members from Medfield and surrounding town, under the direction of David Giessow, will begin fall rehearsals for their 2011 program on Monday, September 12th. This non-audition group of singers, which began familiarizing itself with the music last spring, meets to rehearse on Monday evenings from 7:30-9:30 in the sanctuary of The United Church of Christ, 496 Main Street, Medfield to prepare for their 22nd Annual Concert on November 20th.

Selections this year feature several pieces by Lowell Mason to honor “the father of music education” and composer of over 1600 hymn tunes. The group will also be performing some selections from Randall Thompson’s The Testament of Freedom as well as several ever-popular spirituals, some selections from the musical Candide, and a medley of Broadway pieces by Rodgers and Hammerstein.

We look forward to seeing current members of The Community Singers and welcome all others who love to sing. If you miss the first rehearsal on the 12th, come on the 19th!  If you have any questions, please contact Laury Hunt at UCC Medfield (508) 359-2351 or Judy Weiner at 508-520-8770.
