Moya Moya Fundraiser

Justin Doo, an 11 year old Walpole resident was diagnosed with MMD in March 2007 when he was 7 years old.  MMD is a progressive narrowing of the arteries to the brain.  It restricts blood flow to the brain, often times resulting in TIAs/mini-strokes, or even worse a stroke.  This disease affects only 1 in 2,000,000 people.  The only option is surgery.  Justin bravely endured 8 hours of brain surgery in April 2007.

Justin will always have Moya Moya.  Many questions remain unanswered with MMD.  Is it genetic or environmental?  Why does it cause intense migraine-like headaches?  Why do symptoms vary from child to child?  Continued research is vitally important to promote better treatment and earlier diagnosis.
