Gazebo Players of Medfield Hold Auditions for William Shakespeare's Antony & Cleopatra

The following was provided by Amy Klesert, Producer, The Gazebo Players of Medfield.

The Gazebo Players of Medfield, a non-profit community based theater organization located in Medfield, Massachusetts, will hold their second night of open auditions for their eleventh annual “Shakespeare In The Park” production: William Shakespeare’s ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA. Auditions will be held tonight, at the T. A. Blake Middle School Auditorium, Pound St., Medfield, at 7:30 PM.

ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA will be performed on two consecutive weekends: July 28th and 29th at the Gazebo next to the Medfield Public Library, and August 4th and 5th at the Music Court in Bird Park, Walpole, MA.

Please prepare a one to two minute Shakespearean monologue or sonnet. Audition pieces do not need to be memorized, and we will have pieces available for actors who did not bring a prepared monologue. Actors will also be asked to read scenes from the play. No prior Shakespeare experience is necessary; the only requirement is that actors have a willingness to learn and have fun. Non-traditional casting will be considered, including casting women in traditionally male roles.

Antony and Cleopatra will be directed by Ms. Debbi Finkelstein, who has directed two productions with Gazebo Players in the past: Twelfth Night and The Little Prince (as co-director). Ms. Finkelstein’s other directing credits include Miracle on 34th Street with TCAN (as assistant director), as well as Goodnight Desdemona (Goodmorning Juliet) and The Merchant of Venice, both with Brandeis University's Hold Thy Peace, the Shakespeare appreciation society that she co-founded.
