Annual Winter Carnival to be Held at Memorial School Saturday

Event is a fun way to spend a day with the family and help raise money for the Memorial and Ralph Wheelock Schools.

Discounted tickets are still available for the fifth Annual Winter Carnival to be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Memorial School.

The Winter Carnival is the main fundraising event put on by the Memorial and Wheelock CSA, and proceeds are shared between the two schools.

“These funds supplement limited school budgets and have funded playground equipment, computers, books and guest speakers,” said Terry Corbett, who is co-chairing this year’s event with Karen McCarthy.

Carnival games and activities are geared toward children in pre-school through second grade.  The event typically raises between $5,000 and $6,000 per year and has raised approximately $25,000 over the last four years.

“The event is fun,” said Corbett.  “We have food, games, and activities geared toward young children so they have a good time.  There is something for everyone with our raffles, fabulous sweets and treats [home baked goodies], and a very impressive silent auction.”
