Weekend Planner: Medfield Green Day, The Hot Seat and Art

Here's a look at the weekend ahead for May 4-6.

The first weekend in May looks to be a busy one in Medfield. Here's a look ahead at some of the events happening around town for those staying in the area.

1. Fourth Annual Medfield Green Day

As spring arrives, many households feel the need to thoroughly purge their homes of unneeded and outdated household items, but don't know where to dispose of these items. Medfield Green Day, sponsored by MEMO, is Medfield's biggest recycling day of the year and provides you with the perfect one-stop recycling area to donate your unwanted stuff. Medfield Green Day will find a new home for things you no longer need or use and be green at the same time, keeping items out of our landfills.

A large variety of items will be collected and donated to different charities or recycled for reuse. Some of the items to be collected are: clothing, shoes, toys, baby equipment (no car seats and no cribs), small household items, bikes ($10 suggested donation), books, electronics ($5-$25 disposal fee), old eyeglasses, mixed rigid plastics (i.e. Little Tikes/Fisher Price, lawn chairs) and all metal appliances (large and small).

There will also be a "Sports Equipment Swap Area," located inside the Legion, where people can bring sports equipment and athletic gear, including shoes they no longer need and trade it in for something new. Medfield Green asks that no skis be brought to the swap.

Bikes for Bombs will also be holding a bike drive at the Legion. Your unused bikes can be shipped to under privileged areas of the world, so that people have a means of transportation.  All they ask for is a small $5 - 10 donation to defray shipping costs.
