Weekend Planner: Jazz, Art and Charity Events

Here's a look at the weekend ahead for June 8-10.

1. A Night of Jazz at Zullo Gallery

Where/When: , 456 Main St., Medfield; Friday June 8, 8 p.m.

Why Go: Enjoy a night of live jazz music by the Doug Olsen Jazz Quintet and special guests: Members of the award-winning Medfield High School Jazz Band.  A beer and wine bar will be available. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

Pricing: $10 suggested donation. 

2. Norwood Lights Up The Night: Strides Against Stigma Walk

Where/When: 245 Nichols St., Norwood; Friday June 8, 6:30 to 10:30 p.m.

Why Go: Norwood High School is sponsoring a walk for mental health awareness called Norwood Lights up the Night: Strides Against Stigma. The event will be held (rain or shine) at the Norwood High School track. This event will feature a brief talk, music, poetry, and food. The walk begins at 7:30 p.m. This event is open to the public and is free. Glow sticks will be available to purchase in honor of people who are battling or have battled mental illness. Come and take some strides to end the stigma of mental health.

3. Yard Sale at Grace Church

Where/When: , 21 Centre St., Dover; Saturday, June 9, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: From trinkets to tools the Grace Church yard sale will offer items for everyone in the family to benefit the Church.

4. Norwood "Arts In the Park"

Where/When: Norwood Town Common, corner of Washington St. & Nahatan St., Norwood; Saturday, June 9, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Why Go: The Norwood Art Association "Arts In the Park," which takes place around the gazebo in Norwood Center, is a terrific opportunity to be able to meet many fine local artists in person and to view their work.

5. Relay for Life of Millis/Medway/Medfield/Norfolk

Where/When: Medway Middle School Track, 45 Holliston St., Medway; Friday, June 8, 6 p.m. to Saturday, June 9 at 8 a.m.

Why Go: The American Cancer Society tenth annual Relay for Life of Millis/Medway/Medfield/Norfolk invites all to stop by and support this event and see what the Relay For Life is all about. The Relay for Life is an overnight relay-style event where teams of people camp out around a track while members of each team take turns walking around the track for the duration of the event.  Key moments throughout the evening include the Survivors Lap, Luminaria Ceremony and the fight back ceremony. The family event will also include food, games and activities.
