Weekend Planner: Spring Fling, Running Water 5K and Little League Parade

Here's a look at the weekend ahead for April 27-29.

It's a weekend full of events around Medfield. From fundraisers to the annual Little League Parade, there's plenty to do if you're around town. Here's a look at this weekend's calendar:

1. Medfield Little League Parade

Where/When:  95 Pleasant St., Medfield; Sunday, April 29, noon

Why Go: Opening Day for Medfield Youth Baseball/Softball will be held on Sunday, April 29. Individual and team photos will be taken in the morning at the Memorial School field between 8 and 11 a.m. followed by the parade and opening ceremonies. All baseball and softball teams should report to the Memorial School parking lot no later than 11:45am. The parade will begin at noon and end at Metcomet Field. Immediately following the parade, all teams will march onto Metacomet Field for the Opening Day ceremonies where the 2011 Medfield Williamsport Team will "hoist the championship banner" over Metacomet Field. Hot dogs, beverages, hats and shirts will be available for purchase. A Major League game will complete the day’s events. In the event of inclement weather, check the website at www.medfieldybs.org for cancellation and rain date rescheduling information.

2. Medfield Coalition for Public Education Spring Fling

Where/When: 656 East St., Dedham; Friday, April 27, 7 to 9 p.m.

Why Go: The Medfield Coalition for Public Education (MCPE) Spring Fling: Planting Seeds of the Future, is one of the organization's biggest fundraisers held each year. This community-wide event will feature an evening of dancing, hors-d’oeurves, and silent and live auctions. The Medfield Coalition for Public Education is an independent, non-profit organization that strives to provide support for academic excellence and enrichment in the Medfield Public Schools.

Pricing: Tickets are $60 each and can be purchased online at www.medfieldcoalition.org.

3. Medfield High School Student Council Annual Running Water 5k Road Race

Where/When: 88r South St., Medfield; Sunday, April 29, Registration begins at 10:15 a.m. for 11a.m. race time.

Why go: The Medfield High School Student Council will host its fourth Annual Running Water 5k Road Race/walk. The Water Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting communities worldwide who suffer needlessly from a lack of access to clean water. There will be music, refreshments, and raffles after the race.

Pricing: $20 per person.

4. Pianist Evan Berry Plays Classical Music at Medfield Public Library

Where/When: , 468 Main St., Medfield; Sunday, April 29, 3 to 4:30 p.m.

Why Go: The Medfield Public Library is presenting a recital by Medfield’s very talented young pianist Evan Berry, a Medfield High School senior. All ages are welcome.

5.  Destination Imagination Car Wash and Barn Sale Drop-Off

Where/When: Behind , 459 Main St Medfield; Saturday, April 28, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Why Go: Medfield High School's two Destination Imagination state championship teams have qualified for the Global Finals in May at the University of Tennessee but they need your help to get their. The teams need to raise over $20,000 to make the trip to the Global Finals and are holding various fundraisers this weekend. Members of the team will hold a fundraising car wash on Saturday morning beginning at 9 a.m. and will be accepting donations during the car wash. On Sunday, April 29, the teams will be collecting items for a barn sale at 161 Granite St. For more information on these fundraisers, .
