Fifteen years ago, a local group saved the Dwight-Derby House from demolition and those efforts will be celebrated this May with a gala at the 17th Century house.
On May 19, the Friends of the Dwight Derby House will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the purchase of this historic landmark with a Black and White gala on the premises of the house.
Residents are invited to purchase tickets to attend the event and help fund further restoration of the house, which includes a new kitchen and other "wish list" improvements.
Tickets, which are limited and cost $75 per person, will be on sale at the Dwight-Derby House on Thursday, March 15 beginning at 9 a.m. and will be sold on a first come, first served basis.
The House is located on Frairy Street, overlooking Meeting House Pond. Residents will be able to tour the house to see the restoration progress over the past 15 years.
About Friends of the Dwight-Derby House
Friends of the Dwight-Derby House was established 15 years ago to work toward the town purchase and it continues today to raise funds through grants, individual and corporate donations and sale of memorabilia for restoration and maintenance of the house. Restoration has also been accomplished through the donation of time, talent and effort by many local volunteers.
The May 19 gala will be the first large scale fundraising celebration to obtain the funds needed to continue with the long range plans of the house.
