Thursday is Last Day of Farmer's Market

This year's farmer's market will close on Aug. 29.

The Medfield Farmer's Market will close for the season on Thursday, Aug. 29.

Last year, the market stayed open into October but organizers say weekly attendance dropped way off as did profits for the vendors.

When polled last week, only one vendor was interested in staying past Labor Day so the market will close this week.

A Note of Thanks

Here is an excerpt from a letter of thanks posted on Aug. 24 by CB Doub, one of market organizers

The steering committee, chaired by Eve Potts, thanks all the local 2013 vendors for making this season such a success.  Wards Berry Farm of Sharon and Langwater Farm of Easton  faithfully supplied weekly customers with the freshest vegetables and fruits as well as some homemade pastries.  Both farms will continue to sell their produce throughout the year at their on-site farm stands; information can be found on their websites and Facebook pages.  Jordan Brothers Seafood, a popular new vendor in 2013, was an enthusiastic supplier of the daily “fresh catch” from the sea.  Garden Farms of Bellingham pleased everyone by offering homemade preserves, mustards, relishes and grilling sauces with and without spices.  The complete list of vendors included the regular appearance of Bark Back Bakery, with gluten free treats for the canine friend of the family and Wild Daisy Soaps of Walpole whose fresh soaps, lotions and other products contain only natural, organic, non-toxic ingredients.. Visit all of them on Facebook until their return next year.

A thank you is also in order to the many Medfield and area residents who became regular or periodic customers throughout the season.  Thanks and please mark your calendars for Thursdays next summer.
