Professional Sports TV Camera Operator Returns to Medfield.TV Studio Oct. 28

Medfield native Tom Guilmette will visit Medfield.TV's Cable Access studio on Oct. 28 to share tips, camera skills and technique.

Tom Guilmette, a Boston based sports TV camera-operator and one of Medfield.TV’s more accomplished former volunteers, will visit the Cable Access studio located in the on Oct. 28. 

He will share tips on camera skills and techniques with current Medfield.TV volunteers from 2:15 to 3:30 p.m. However, he will be in the Medfield.TV studio as early as 1 p.m. to meet with staff, directors and any adults who wish to talk with him. Former Medfield.TV volunteers are welcome if any are in the area.

Guilmette began his volunteering at Medfield Cable Access, when it was recognized as Cable 8, as a sixth grade student and early on he knew he wished to pursue a career in television. He enjoyed multi-camera remote sports coverage and editing his own creative content.

After graduating from Medfield High School in 1996, Guilmette studied television and psychology at Marist College in New York, graduating Cum Laude in 2000. He has worked in the Boston professional sports market for more than 10 years.

Over the past 10 years, he has covered nearly 1,000 Boston Red Sox baseball games and countless other sporting events around the Boston area and throughout the United States. He was fortunate to work on Super Bowls and Olympics and has operated most camera technologies. He has worked for Fox, CBS and Turner as clients and his current clients include NESN, CSN and Cox.

He has aspirations for future work in the documentary field with clients like National Geographic and Discovery since he enjoys this type of storytelling. A great outdoorsman, Guilmette enjoys mountain biking for relaxation.
