Pet of the Week: Meet 'Peppermint'

Peppermint is currently available for adoption at the Medfield Animal Shelter.

This cutie is Peppermint, a 2-year-old guinea pig who was relinquished, because the kids in his family lost interest in him and they now have a dog that seems to want to eat him, according to Kim Agricola of the Medfield Animal Shelter.

"He just arrived, so we will share more information as we get to know him," Agricola said. "Guinea pigs are active, gentle, relatively low maintenance pets that love companionship, delight in cuddles and make great pets for gentle children six years old and up."

Guinea pigs are happiest when they have a clean cage and lots of interactive socialization time with their person, Agricola explained. They do require fresh hay and greens (lettuce, parsley, basil, etc.) on a daily basis and adopters should consider this expense when adding a guinea pig to their family.
