Pet of the Week: Meet 'Eliza'

Eliza is currently available for adoption at the Medfield Animal Shelter.

Meet Eliza, a beautiful Snowshoe/Ragdoll mix.

With her deep, marbled blue eyes and gorgeous markings, she is quite eye-catching. Eliza is approximately 10 years old and is a very sweet cat, although she doesn't like other cats, according to Kim Agricola of the Medfield Animal Shelter.

"She was adopted from us three and a half years ago but was returned because she meowed a lot," Agricola said. "When she cannot see other cats she only meows to say hello and to ask us to spend some time with her. She had been on thyroid medication but we had her checked by our vet and discovered her thyroid levels were dangerously high, so we are adjusting her medication and will be closely monitoring her."

Agricola said Eliza is very thin, but the shelter is working on getting extra calories into her. She is a very friendly and affectionate cat and loves to sit in laps and snuggle and purr.

"We would love to find Eliza a home where she could be the only cat and probably the only pet," Agricola said. "If you are not in a position to adopt right now, we would be happy to see her in a foster home and we will pay for her medication and vet exams.
