Norfolk County Mosquito Control to Begin ULV Spray in Medfield on May 31

The Norfolk County Mosquito Control District will begin its 2012 early morning ULV aerosol applications on May 29, weather permitting, with application expected in Medfield on Thursday, May 31.

This program will be a continuation of the procedure, which has been used in past years:

  • Date: May 29 through Sept. 28 - Adulticide aerosol (ULV) applications.
  • Time: 2 to 6 a.m. (sunrise)
  • Frequency: Monday through Friday.

NCMCP will spray Medfield on Thursdays along with Braintree, Norwood, Quincy and Randolph. If a resident would like to see a map and/or street listing of the areas to be treated, they should click on the following link, and then enter their address.

Please note that the ULV map and/or street listings will be posted on or about 3:30 p.m. the day before the scheduled application day – for Medfield that means Wednesdays. Residents may also contact the following number (617) 582-6216 after 3:30 p.m. the day before the scheduled treatment to receive information detailing the streets/areas to be treated in the town.

The purpose of the adulticide application is to control nuisance and/or virus carrying adult mosquitoes. The control product being used is DUET (EPA Reg. #1021-1795-8329) applied in ultra-low volume (ULV) sprayers at a rate of approximately one half ounce per acre of finished spray.
