MEMO Announces Winners in First Annual Joy to the World Singing Contest

MEMO sponsored the Joy to the World signing contest, an addition to this year's annual tree lighting celebration.

MEMO, the Medfield Employers and Merchants Organization congratulates and thanks those who participated in the Joy to the World Singing Contest and led the Carol Singing during the annual tree lighting this year. Their voices really encouraged the audience to sing out.

Winners included:

Grades 7-12 Solo: Cara Daybre won Outstanding Performance for her rendition of "O Holy Night"

Grades 1-6 Solo: Marcus D’Angelo won Outstanding Performance for "I'm Getting Nuttin' for Christmas!"

Outstanding Duo: Allie Newlon and Amy Johanson, an ensemble finalist, won Outstanding Performance for "Do You Hear What I Hear?

Other finalists in the Grade 7-12 Solo category performing on December 2 included Francesca D’Angelo singing "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" and Julia Adrian singing "All I want for Christmas is You."

Also finalists in the Grade 1-6 solo category performing were Sophia Gustafson and Raphaela Gray each singing "Angels We Have Heard on High."

In addition to the winning duet, the finalist trio of Molly, Charlie and Marie Hardiman, sang "Santa Claus is Coming to Town."

Other contestants added their voices to lead the carol singing before the contest including Julia Clifford, Jane Clifford, Emily Rosecrans, Anna Wietrecki, Jaime Blackmon, Anya Conti and Kelli Grafton.

MEMO also sends a special thanks to this year's judges including Paul Alberta (former Music Department Chair in the Norwood School System), Mark Fisher (Medfield Selectman and musician), and Tim Borchers (attorney and vocalist).

The Joy Committee included Alberta, Borchers, Attorney Geralyn Warren, and former MEMO president Lucille Fisher. 

MEMO organizers said the event was a success and will likely be repeated next year.
