Medfield Public Library Releases February Schedule

Story times and teen-related events are set through March 1.

Parents and children in Medfield will have a handful of events to keep on their calendars at the library for February.

The Medfield Public Library has released its schedule of events for the next month through March 1. Below are details on programs and other happenings.

Winter Storytimes
Winter Storytimes will begin on Wednesday, Jan. 8  and will continue through Thursday, Mar. 27. Storytimes are on a drop-in basis. Please respect the age limits and be on time. There will be no storytimes on Feb. 19 or 20.

Pattycake Place 
For ages 0 - 23 months on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 - 10:50 a.m.
Babies and their caregivers are encouraged to join in for lapsit fun. Enjoy songs, stories, and rhymes during this interactive storytime. 

Toddler Time 
For ages 18 - 36 months on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11-11:20 a.m.
Stories, songs, rhymes, and movement activities designed especially for toddlers and their caregivers.

Preschool Pageturners 
For ages 3-5 on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.
This participatory program for preschoolers combines stories, music, rhymes, and a variety of activities that help develop important early literacy skills. 

Read with Dexter the Dog
Friday, Feb. 14, 4:30-5:15 p.m.
Ages 6-9
Dexter is a dog that loves books! Kids ages 6 to 9 are invited to sign up to read to Dexter for 15 minutes. Bring a favorite story or choose one from our collection. Studies show that early readers can advance their skills by practicing with a non-judgmental audience. Dexter is certified by Therapy Dogs of Massachusetts. TARGET (Teen Advisors Really Get Events Together)
Tuesday, Feb. 18, 5-6 p.m.
Grades 8 to 12 in the Meeting Room
TARGET meets the third Tuesday of each month. Drinks and snacks served at every meeting. 

Winter Wonderland Sing & Swing
Wednesday, Feb. 19, 1-1:45 p.m.
Ages 3 to 5 in the Meeting Room
Enjoy winter-themed music, movement, and stories with musician Deb Hudgins. 

Yoga for Kids
Thursday, Feb. 20, 1-1:45 p.m.
Ages 3 - 5 in the Activity Room
Yoga instructor, Kristin Mulligan, will help kids to learn different yoga poses through music, stories, and games and improve flexibility and coordination. 

Mad Science: Invention-ation
Thursday, Feb. 20, 3:30-4:30 p.m.
Ages 5 to 10 in the Meeting Room
Through hands-on activities, children will learn about some unique machines and will plan out some outlandish machines of their own. Each child will take home their own Inventor’s Notebook. 

Lego Club
Friday, Feb 21, 4:30 -5:30 p.m.
Ages 5 to 10 in the Activity Room
Create your own Lego structures in these fun challenges. We supply the Legos, you supply the ideas.  

Teen Job Fair
Wednesday, Feb. 26, 4-6 p.m.
Dailey Room
Need a job? Head over to the library for the 4th annual Teen Job Fair. Panel discussions and a job fair with local employers. 

Imagination Place - Theatre Games
Friday, Feb. 28, 4:30-5:30 p.m.
Ages 7 to 11 in the Activity Room
Each month, children can take part in activities that spark creativity and imagination.  

Lego Family Challenge
Saturday, Mar 1, 2:30-4:30 p.m.
Ages 3 and up in the Activity Room
