Medfield Girl Scouts Celebrate Accomplishments, Anniversary

The Medfield Girl Scouts celebrated the organization's 95th year of existence and other achievements at its June 17th Bridging and Award ceremony.

In a special Bridging and Awards ceremony held on June 17th, Medfield Girl Scouts moved up to the next level of leadership, earned top honors for service and celebrated the organization’s 95th anniversary.

Watched by proud family members and friends, Medfield’s Girl Scouts were also honored by appearances from Massachusetts State Representative, Denise Garlick, Medfield Selectmen Mark Fisher, Pete Peterson and Ann Thompson as well as Violet Apple, chief membership and program officer for the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts.

To celebrate its 95 years of leadership, fun and service, the Medfield Girl Scouts rolled out a special anniversary cake designed by some of the girls and showed a montage of photos – some new and some from as far back as 1916, when Medfield Girl Scouts began.

“After reading through journals and seeing photos of the first Girl Scouts here in Medfield, it’s amazing to see all that we’ve done and learned as a dynamic service unit right from the beginning,” said Linda Frawley, Medfield Girl Scout Service Unit Coordinator.

That dedication to girl scouting in Medfield rang especially true during the awarding of the Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards – community service awards that reflect the highest achievement possible for Junior, Cadet and Senior Girl Scouts respectively.
