Kevin Ryder to Leave Parks & Recreation

Coach Kevin's last day will be Nov. 8.

Kevin Ryder, Program Coordinator for the Medfield Parks & Recreation Department, sent this note on Friday, Oct. 18, to friends and co-workers. He will be leaving his MPR position on Nov. 8 to take a job in Wellesley.

The following is the full version of Ryder's "thank you" letter.

Good afternoon!

I wanted to take a moment to let the Parks & Recreation community here in Medfield know that I have been offered, and accepted, a position with the Town of Wellesley Parks & Recreation Department. It was a decision that I did not make in haste; it was actually one that was very emotional for me.

I have spent more than five years as the Program Coordinator here in Medfield, and have had an amazing experience. I have met a lot of families, coached a lot of kids and had many come through our summer camp programs. I felt like I made a strong connection with a number of families in town, and it wasn’t one that I was ready to let go of. But this opportunity presented itself in Wellesley, and it was too good for me to pass up.

Over the past five years, I have seen tremendous growth in this department, with numerous programs starting and thriving, with many more programs re-started and re-energized over that time to be better than ever. I took a lot of pride in offering the best possible array of programs for this community, and always did my best to make sure the wide range of programs fit the growing needs of Medfield.

As I look back at my time here in Medfield, I will leave with a treasure chest full of great memories and moments that I will hold near and dear to my heart forever. Medfield will always have a special place in my life and my time here was one that I will relish forever.

I have to thank the Parks & Recreation, both past and present, and James Snyder, the director, for the opportunity and continued support given to me to try new things. The support from the community has also been amazing and many of the programs offered since I got here never would’ve happened without that support.

So as I get ready to start a new chapter of my career, I wanted to say THANK YOU. I will miss Medfield tremendously; I will miss the daily visits from all the kids before they headed to one of their classes at the Pfaff; I will miss the high-fives from every kid, or the calls of “COACH KEVIN” from the kids when they saw me.

I will miss seeing the packed fields on Saturday mornings for our soccer leagues, or the laughing of kids during summer camp. I will miss Medfield. Thank you for an amazing five years. It has truly been an honor to work for this town and I had such a great time coming to work each and every day. Please feel free to stop by the Pfaff over the next few weeks to say hello (or good bye) and for one last high-five. So you know, my last official day with Parks and Recreation is tentatively scheduled for Nov. 8th.

Sincerely,
Kevin Ryder, Program Coordinator
