'Groove Merchants' will Provide Musical Entertainment at Medfield Day

The "Groove Merchants" are tabbed as this year's band to provide entertainment for the Medfield Day crowd.

The Groove Merchants, a band, new to the Discover Medfield Day stage, will entertain audiences at the annual fall fair on Sept. 17 from 1 to 3 p.m.

The 32nd annual fair sponsored by the Medfield Employers and Merchants Organization, will open at 9 a.m. with a color guard and the National Anthem.

Live entertainment on the stage at the park overlooking Meeting House Pond will continue throughout the morning with students of Paulette’s Dance studio and The Close Shaves. The Groove Merchants will continue until the closing ceremony when winners of raffles, auctions and contest, including booth decorations, will be announced.

The Groove Merchants are Medfield High School seniors, who are all leading members of the MHS jazz band.

The ensemble consists of Luke Rosenfeld on piano, Nick Cruickshank on drums, Chris Davis on guitar and Paul Wagenseller on vocals and tenor sax. The group has been looking to round out their sound with a bassist. If one isn’t found by Medfield Day, it will remain a four person band.

The Medfield High School Jazz Band led off MEMO’s summer concert series in June and has a renowned reputation since winning the Charles Mingus Competion in New York. These four talents will give Medfield Day just the right sound for the afternoon.

In addition to the live entertainment throughout the day, the fair will feature 150 exhibit booths decorated festively using the theme of Medfield’s Treasures. The food court will have a wide array of food for all size appetites and pocketbooks. Serving up their specialties will be the Medfield Italian American Cultural Association, the Medfiels Lions Club, Bogey’s Restaurant, Noon Hill Grill, Village Pizza and Basils Restaurant. Other venders around the concourse will also offer some tasty treats.

A Kids Alley will offer a variety of inflatable activities for various ages and a tractless train.
