Medfield Library Presents: Restoring Polish Synagogues

Come to a presentation on this remarkable historic reconstruction. Laura and Rick Brown the founders of Handshouse studio will show and tell the story of this project and invite you to marvel at the magnificent hand work of then and now.

The Gwozdziec Synagogue was a remarkable wooden synagogue built in the Polish Lithuanian Empire in 1731, and destroyed in 1939. In 2012 there are plans to rebuild its polychrome ceiling and timber-framed roof to 85% scale, using traditional tools, techniques, and materials. As part of the Medfield Reads exploration of cultural roots come to a presentation on this remarkable historic reconstruction.
