Daylight Savings 2012: Roll Clocks Ahead Tonight

Residents are reminded to turn their clocks ahead one hour when they go to bed tonight for the 2 a.m. Sunday start to daylight saving time.

It's time to spring forward.

Tonight's the night for Massachusetts to roll the clocks ahead one hour.

Like 47 other states, Massachusetts will "spring forward" one hour at 2 a.m. Sunday, when daylight saving time begins.

The only states that do not observe daylight saving time are Hawaii and most of Arizona.

Fire officials and FEMA also urge people to use the semi-annual clock changing exercise as a reminder to remove and replace batteries for smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors and evacuation flashlights.

While changing batteries, be sure to check that the device has not passed any expiration date, and clearing dust from slots or sensors, the agencies said.

Medfield's provided the following message to residents:

"Don’t forget to Spring ahead! It's Daylight Saving Time! The weather begins to warm up, the birds reappear, bulbs poke out from the ground – and it's time for your clocks to be set ahead one hour. Daylight Saving Time occurs on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at 2 a.m."
