Crews Install New Sidewalk Near Brothers Marketplace Site

Four new trees could be seen along the new sidewalk.

Construction continues at the site of the soon-to-be Brothers Marketplace in Medfield.

Construction crews were spotted pouring cement for a new sidewalk at the site Wednesday morning, according to Medfield Selectmen Osler "Pete" Peterson's Medfield02052 blog. Four new ginkgo trees were also seen planted along the new sidewalk, according to Peterson.

The new store in Medfield is set to tentatively open this July, according to the Boston Globe. Roche Bros. also opened a second location of Brothers Marketplace last month in Weston.

The local concept store, which is being run by Wellesley-based Roche Bros., will replace the longstanding Lord's Department Store in Medfield Center, and is meant to offer a farmers market-like feel. Medfield officials gave the thumbs-up to the plan for the store late last year, and the company began hiring positions in April.
