5 Things You Need to Know This Weekend in Medfield, Nov. 11-12

Here's a look at the weekend ahead.

Weekend Forecast: Saturday's weather, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for mostly sunny, with a high near 54. Southwest wind between 7 and 17 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 36. Southwest wind between 5 and 9 mph. Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 62. Southwest wind between 5 and 13 mph. Sunday Night: A slight chance of showers after 4 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 47. Southwest wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Notable Events:

Comfort Zone Grief Relief 5K and Family Day at MHS: Registration will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday for walkers and runners to participate at the Medfield High School and Blake Middle School. Funds raised will benefit Comfort Zone Camp. Participants and the community at large are invited to participate in family-friendly events, including a kid’s fun run, Touch A Truck, face painting, balloon animals, Child ID cards, music, food, raffles and silent auctions.

Raffle and silent auction items include a Gingerbread House, tickets (BC Hockey, Red Sox, Blue Man Group, Rockettes, Peter Pan, Ski Lift Tickets), an “old school” Bruins jersey, math tutoring, Nintendo, other computer software, iPod touch, Excel Laser Skin Clinique, Restaurant Gift Certificates, power drill and much more.

Registration fees include $30 for adults, $20 for teens, ages 13-17, and $15 for children ages 12 and under, and $5 for leashed (and friendly) dogs. Event registration includes entry into the 5k and event swag.

This Grief Relief 5k will raise support and awareness for Comfort Zone, a national nonprofit bereavement program for children and teens that have lost a parent, guardian or sibling. Camps are free of charge for campers and provide participants with a fun weekend of camp activities coupled with confidence-building programs and age based support groups to help break the emotional isolation grief often brings.

Comfort Zone Camp held their first camp in Massachusetts in 2009 and has since served 150 families and trained over 500 volunteers locally. Butterfly Tree Gift Boutique Open House Featuring Photography by Colleen Sullivan: Medfield Patch’s own, Colleen Sullivan, of Photography by Colleen, will be featured at the "Spotlight on the Artist" Open House at the Butterfly Tree Gift Boutique on Sunday, Nov. 13th from 2 to 5 p.m. Many photographs will be on display and items will be for sale, including the "Seasons of Medfield" note cards for your holiday shopping needs.

 Creative Holiday Craft Show in Walpole: Two Holiday craft shows for your shopping pleasure will be held Sunday at 10 a.m. at 108 Robbins Rd., Walpole. Approximately 40 crafters and high quality vendors will be at each show. There will be something for everyone and everyone's budget. Free door prize tickets, drawings every hour make for a fun trip out. Lunch is available in adjoining pub room and there’s plenty of free parking.
