5 Things You Need to Know This Weekend in Medfield, Jan. 28-29

Here's a look at the weekend ahead.

Weekend Forecast: Saturday's weather, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for mostly sunny, with a high near 46. West wind between 6 and 9 mph. Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 28. West wind between 9 and 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 41. West wind between 9 and 11 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Sunday Night: A chance of snow showers, mainly between midnight and 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 26. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Weekend Events:

  • United Church of Christ Medfield's Mission Possible 3: The church's schedule of events during Mission Possible 3 on Saturday includes a light breakfast at 8 a.m. in Fellowship Hall followed by a short worship service at 8:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary. The t-shirts will be distributed before groups head out. Volunteers will meet back at the high school for dinner, which will be served at 5:30 p.m.
  • Weekend Warriors: The Medfield High School boys' hockey team takes the ice Saturday against Holliston (6:30 p.m.) at Veterans Arena in Franklin. The high school girls' hockey team plays Boston Latin Academy at 8 p.m. at Walpole's Iorio Arena. 

"Dancing with the Warriors" at Medfield High School: Medfield High School will host "Dancing with the Warriors" Ballroom Dance Showcase at 1 p.m. in the MHS cafeteria. Karen Renaud's ballroom dance students at Medfield High School will put their dancing skills and talents on display during the school's Ballroom Dance Showcase.The show comes a little over a month after the high school wellness program participated in the . After the showcase, all students will be invited to stay until 3 p.m. for a Ballroom Social Dance. Cost of admission is $5 for students and $7 for adults.

Woodland Theatre Company Presents "Cabaret": The Woodland Theatre Company presents the musical "Cabaret" at The Lowell Mason Auditorium, on the campus of Medfield High School. Winner of 12 Tony Awards and 8 Academy Award, Cabaret, focuses on nightlife at the seedy Kit Kat Klub on the eve of Hitler’s rise to power in Germany in the 1930's. The story revolves around English cabaret performer Sally Bowles and her relationship with the young American writer Cliff Bradshaw.  Musical numbers include, Wilkommen, Money, and Cabaret. Cabaret is based on the Music by John Kander, Lyrics by  Fred Ebb, Book by Joe Masteroff, Directed by Doug Hodge and Music Direction by Julia Scott Carey. This show contains adult subject matter and is recommended for mature audiences. Performances of "Cabaret" will be held Saturday evening at 8 p.m. and a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. The cost is $30. Send-off the Patriots to Super Bowl XLVI at Gillette Stadium: The Patriots and sponsors Dunkin’ Donuts and Covidien are inviting fans to the free event, where they can see the team off to Indianapolis to take on the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLVI. Just prior to the players boarding busses for the airport, Patriots President Jonathan Kraft, Bill Belichick and the entire team will greet fans from the Gillette Stadium field. Gates to the stadium open at 10:15 a.m. and the rally begins at noon. Leading up to the send-off at noon, fans will have the chance to re-watch the Patriots’ AFC Championship Game against the Baltimore Ravens on Gillette Stadium’s video boards. The Patriots Cheerleaders, Pat Patriot and the End Zone Militia will take part in the festivities, and complimentary coffee and hot chocolate will be provided. The event is free and open to the public. Gillette Stadium’s Patriot Place Gate (located near the ticket office and the The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon) will open at 10:15 a.m. Parking is free. No tailgating will be allowed.
