5 Things You Need to Know in the Week Ahead: Oct. 17-23

Here's a quick look at the week ahead in Medfield.

Five-Day Forecast: According to the National Weather Service, based out of Taunton, Medfield’s five-day forecast looks like this: Monday calls for sunny, with a high near 67. West wind between 10 and 16 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Monday Night: A slight chance of showers after 3 a.m. Increasing clouds, with a low around 47. West wind between 5 and 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent. Tuesday: A chance of showers, mainly before 11 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 64. West wind between 6 and 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. Tuesday Night: Showers likely, mainly after 3 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 52. Southeast wind between 5 and 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. Wednesday: Showers likely, mainly before 5 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 67. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. Wednesday Night: A chance of showers before 11 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. Thursday: Partly sunny and breezy, with a high near 60. Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40. Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 56. Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 39.

Controlled Deer Hunt Opens in Medfield: The Medfield Lyme Disease Study Committee’s controlled deer culling program opens Monday in town. The hunt, which will be limited to bow and arrow and restricted to “fixed positions in areas where land owners have agreed to allow hunting,” according to the town’s website. Hunters will use tree stands so they are shooting down, towards the ground. Hunters, according to the Lyme Disease Study Committee, were interviewed and approved by committee members after a detailed application process. The hunt is an effort to reduce risk of Lyme disease in town and will run through Dec. 31.

Warriors Week in Sports: On Monday, the Medfield High School boys’ and girls’ soccer teams travel to Medway. The boys’ soccer team plays at 6:45 p.m. The girls’ soccer team plays at 5 p.m. The girls’ volleyball team travels to Medway for a 6:30 p.m. match. On Wednesday, the boys’ and girls’ cross country teams travel to Westwood for a 3:30 p.m. meet. The Medfield field hockey team travels to Hopkinton for a 3:30 p.m. match. The Medfield girls’ soccer team hosts Holliston at 5:30 p.m. On Friday, the Medfield boys’ soccer team hosts Westwood at 3:30 p.m. while the girls’ soccer team travels to Westwood for a 3:30 p.m. game. The Medfield field hockey team hosts Dover-Sherborn at 5 p.m. in a battle for first place atop the Tri-Valley League. The Medfield football team travels to Norton for a 7 p.m. game.

Town Meetings: On Monday, the Medfield Planning Board meets at 8 p.m. on the second floor of Town Hall and will hear more on the proposed CVS expansion in town. There will be no Medfield School Committee meeting Monday. On Tuesday, the Board of Selectmen will meet at 7 p.m. on the second floor of Town Hall. The Open Space and Recreation Planning Committee will meet at 7:30 p.m. in Town Hall. Medfield’s Board of Health will meet on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Medfield Board of Appeals will meet at 8 p.m. in Town Hall. On Thursday, the Medfield Conservation Commission meets at 7:30 p.m. in Town Hall.
