5 Things: First Thursday Events, Wheelock School Art Show and Spring Sports

Here's a look at the day ahead for Thursday, May 3.

Today's Forecast: Thursday's weather, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for a slight chance of showers before 1pm, then a slight chance of showers after 3pm. Cloudy, with a high near 57. South wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.  Thursday Night: A chance of showers, mainly after midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 50. South wind between 3 and 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Medfield Cultural District's First Thursday Series: As part of the Medfield Cultural District's First Thursday series, the is hosting an event tonight from 6 to 10 p.m. Tim Larkin, malt manager at , will hold a beer tasting focusing on a new group of micro brews. A selection of food from Susan Goddard Catering and great wines from Lower Falls Wine Compay will also be available. First Thursday offers a wonderful opportunity to mingle with friends and get a sneak peek of Zullo's new exhibit "Outwitting History: A Juried Exhibition," which opens to the public on Saturday, May 5.

Also taking place Thursday is the Vine Lake Preservation Trust's luminary walk throughout the Old Section of Vine Lake Cemetery to honor Medfield's Civil War veterans. The walk will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday's event will honor 41 Union veterans buried in Vine Lake. The public is invited to the cemetery Thursday evening to "witness the splendor of light and celebration." Participants can walk the roads to see a luminary at special gravesites; you'll also be given a program listing the veterans once you arrive. You are asked to park on the roads around the lake and climb the steps to the Old Section.

  • will host an art show from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. displaying the artwork from all Wheelock students.
