5 Things: Dwight-Derby Gala Tickets on Sale, Blake CSA Meeting and Library Story Times

Here's a look at the day ahead for Thursday, March 15.

Today's Forecast: Thursday's weather, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for patchy fog before 10 a.m. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 49. Calm wind becoming east around 6 mph. Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34. East wind around 6 mph becoming calm.

Notable Events:

  • Friends of the Dwight-Derby House will be selling tickets in front of the house on Frairy Street (across from Meetinghouse Pond) at 9 a.m. for a Black and White Gala on May 19 to celebrate 15 years of saving and preserving the historic landmark. Those interested are encouraged to get there early as tickets are limited to 200 and are expected to sell out within the hour.
  • Early Dismissal for Grades 1- 5: Due to Parent Teachers Conferences for grades K-5, there will be no AM/PM Kindergarten today and the following schools will have an early dismissal: at 11:35 a.m.; at 11:35 a.m. and at 12:10 p.m.
  • The CSA will meet in the school's library at 7 p.m.  All parents are encouraged to attend.
  • A rehearsal for the ANGP Fashion Show will be held tonight at the from 5 to 9 p.m. Also be sure to order your tickets for the upcoming Senior Fashion Show, which will be held this weekend on Saturday, March 17 at 7 p.m. in the Lowell Mason Auditorium of the high school. The Senior Fashion Show benefits the All Night Graduation Party. All tickets are $20 and can be obtained by sending an e-mail to MHSFASHIONSHOW2012@Yahoo.com.   • Join Rhonda McClure, director of research services at the New England Historic and Genealogical Society, will hold a special presentation entitled "The Golden Door Has Locks." Rhonda will discuss the experiences immigrants faced when they arrived in America in the late 1800's and provide advice on researching our ancestors and unearthing immigrant genealogy. This event will take place in the Dailey room from 7 to 8 p.m.
  • Pattycake Place Story Time will take place at 10:45 a.m. Children, ages 0-23 months old are invited to particpate in the interactive storytime with their caregivers. Also at the library today, will be the Book Bunch Storytime, beginning at 11:30 a.m. for preschoolers, ages 2 and up.
