5 Things: Jazz, Girls' Lax D2 South Finals and Relay For Life

Here's a look at the day ahead for Friday, June 8.

Today's Forecast: Friday's weather, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for a chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 75. Calm wind becoming west around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Friday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 a.m., then a slight chance of showers between 1 and 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 54. South wind around 7 mph becoming west. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Noteable Events: 

  • The Medfield High School girls' lacrosse team will play Hopkinton in the Division 2 South Sectional finals, at Hopkinton High School at 6 p.m.
  • invites you to enjoy an evening of live jazz music with Doug Olsen with special guests: Members of the award-winning Medfield High School Jazz Band. This event will begin at 8 p.m. There is a $10 suggested donation fee to attend
  • Tonight the American Cancer Society will hold the 10th annual Relay for Life of Millis/Medway/Medfield/Norfolk at the Medway Middle School track located at 45 Holliston St. at 6 p.m. All are welcome to stop by and support this event and see what the Relay For Life is all about. The event ends on Saturday, June 9 at 8 a.m. The Relay for Life is an overnight relay-style event where teams of people camp out around a track while members of each team take turns walking around the track for the duration of the event. Key moments throughout the evening include the Survivors Lap, Luminaria Ceremony and the fight back ceremony,  The family event will also include food, games and activities.   • The , , , and the are taking collections to help the Medfield Food Cupboard. The Medfield Food Cupboard needs the following items for June: Jelly (no grape please),  juice (bottles and boxes), cereal,  pasta sauce, canned pears, and snacks, but will gladly accept other non-perishable items. Please drop off these items at your local church any Sunday.
