5 Things: MHS Tournament Action and Senior Class Day; ANGP Party Set-Up

Here's a look at the day ahead for Friday, June 1.

Today's Forecast: Friday's weather, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for mostly sunny, with a high near 71. East wind between 6 and 9 mph. Friday Night: Showers likely, mainly after 4 a.m. Increasing clouds, with a low around 58. Southeast wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Noteable Events: 

  • The Senior Class Day program will be held at 9 a.m. at the High School. Later in the day, all seniors will be attending the Senior Cruise, meeting at the high school at 4:45 p.m.
  • All Senior Parents are invited to help out at the All Night Graduation Party Set-Up tonight from 4 to 9 p.m.

  • The softball team will open its state tournament play at home in the preliminary round at 3 p.m. against Martha's Vineyard.
  • The baseball team will open its state tournament play away in the preliminary round at 2 p.m. against Middleboro.
  • The boys' lacrosse team will play at home in the first round of the MIAA D2 East Sectional tournament at 2 p.m. against Marblehead.

  • The girls' lacrosse team will play at home at 3:30 p.m. in the quarterfinal round of the MIAA D2 South Sectional tournament against Norwell.

  • The boys' tennis team will play at home at 3 p.m. in the first round of the MIAA D2 South Sectional state tournament against Somerset Berkley.

  • The girls' tennis team will play at home at 3 p.m. in the first round of the MIAA D2 South Sectional state tournament against Sandwich.

New 'N Towne's Big Rig event to be held Saturday: New N Towne's annual Big Rig event will be held Saturday, June 2 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Blake Middle School parking lot on Pound Street. In the event of rain, Big Rig will be held at the Town Garage at 55 North Meadows Rd. There will be all kinds of big rigs and utility vehicles on display for children to touch, climb and explore. Blow the horn on a fire engine, sit in a police squad car or climb in an ambulance … just to name a few. For more information, contact Erin Fontana at (508) 242-5105 etfontana@hotmail.com. Tickets are $5 per child, kids under one are free. Tickets are purchased at the event.
