5 Things: Spring Sports, Historical Society Reopens and Zullo Gallery Reception

Here's a look at the day ahead for Thursday, April 5.

 Today's Forecast: Thursday's weather, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for sunny, with a high near 54. North wind between 13 and 15 mph. Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 30. North wind between 6 and 9 mph.

Notable Events:

  • The Conservation Commission will hold a meeting at the on the 2nd floor Chenery Room at 7:30 p.m. The meeting agenda can be found HERE.
  • will celebrate its reopening in collaberation with its initial "First Thursday" celebration tonight from 5 to 8 p.m. After a busy couple of months of reorganization, painting and cleaning to make its collections more accessible, the society invites you to experience their new  research and technology area in the front room. To commemorate their reopening, they will also be debuting a special exhibit entitled: "Your Historical Society Then and Now."  There will be lots of interesting photographs, documents and artifacts on display.
  • will host their First Thursday reception this evening from 6 to 10 p.m. offering a micro brew (Baxter Beer) tasting from and wine from Newton Lower Falls Wine Co from their beer and wine bar plus a selection of food provided by Susan Goddard Catering.  First Thursday offers a wonderful opportunity to mingle with friends and get a sneak peek of Zullo's 17th Annual Medfield Public Schools Student-Faculty Art Exhibition, which opens to the public on Saturday April 7.

  • The Medfield girls' and boys' spring track teams travels to Dover-Sherborn for a 3:30 p.m. meet.
  • The baseball and softball teams host Norton at 3:45 p.m.
  • The boys' tennis team travels to Wayland for a 3:45 p.m. match.
  • The boys' and girls' lacrosse teams face Westwood today at 3:45 p.m. The girls' will play home while the boys' play away.
  • The boys' volleyball team hosts Xaverian at 6 p.m.
