Sat., April 12: Jazz Round Town!

The place to be on Saturday, April 12, is Jazz 'Round Town, when you can pick your spot to hear smaller groups from the Medfield High School Jazz Band perform at four local businesses.  The MHS Jazz Band is one of just 15 chosen from across North America to compete in the Essentially Ellington competition at Lincoln Center next month, and it'll be raising money for the trip. Just listen for the music, and look for the Duke Ellington-style top hats being used to collect donations as part of the “Dollars for Duke” campaign.

Here is the schedule:

Blue Moon and Needham Bank – 9:30 to 11 a.m.;

At Blue Moon, “guest artist” Tim Borchers will be joining the ensemble after winning the slot at a Jazz Night drawing!

In addition, Needham Bank is allowing community members to make donations to the trip via its coin machine all week long. If you have spare change you’d like to get rid of, this is a great use for it!

At Lovell’s, the MMA is hosting a bake sale, and 10% of Accents purchases the entire weekend will go toward the Jazz Band trip.
